Two Argyle Chairs from the 1970s by Cassina


We are lucky enough to have two high back Argyle chairs in ebonised Ash. They were designed by Scottish architect Charles Rennie Macintosh around 1898 initially as a chair for a tea room in Glasgow, this was Macintosh’s first private comission. The architects works contributed greatly to the development and history of the Wiener Werkstatte in Austria.

Later the chairs were made in a limited edition for the Italian furniture firm Cassina. These chairs are marked underneath for Cassina are from the 1970s and each one is stamped with a number 2193 and 2194 respectively. They are selling separately for $5,500 each.
